Recently I was exploring the old colonial palaces of New Delhi, and was blown away yet again by the extraordinary vision of the place. New Delhi was essentially the last great building project ever conceieved by the British Empire. The inauguration of the city is one of my favourite scenes from my upcoming book, and for the first of my paid-subscription Substacks, I thought I'd give you all a sneak peak of the chapter!
